Maori in the City

It was great to get out as we all had been ill recently. There was a maori festival in Auckland at the ASB Showgrounds. Our friends, Damon and Trevine, suggested that we check it out as there was plenty for the kids to do. Interestingly, the boys enjoyed the concert of maori singers and street dancers. The dancers were particularly cool doing amazing moves to shotgun sounds and the microsoft startup sound!

We all enjoyed watching the craft work and carving of the fern trees and wood. Alex knew more about the carvings then we did. He explained what he stood next to was the 'Popo!' We also sampled some traditional maori food which included their lovely potato, kumara, which tasted like an indian spiced potato.
