Heaven. We found the ultimate place for our kids. Not only are the pools steaming hot, which brought the biggest smile to Ollie's face since we have been here, but there is a movie pool as well! Yes, a movie pool which was showing 'Space Chimps' today. Very funny by the way, boys loved it.
Claire and Nathan had recommended the thermal pools to us before but we weren't totally convinced as we had a picture of a couple of steaming rock pools. Although the lava pool was 48 degrees but not surrounded by rocks!
Waiwera is about 20-25 mins northwards on the coast. Beautiful area with lots of beaches. The sun was out and we were in our togs! Unbelievable, it is the middle of our winter! Take away the chilly wind and it would have felt like a summers day.
They had some great slides which Alex insisted I did many times even though the wind was telling me not to. There was a great slide called 'Bob's Mistake' because as you come to the end of the slide there is fall of about six feet! Alex's face was picture the first time, I was surprised he did it again. Tom, Fin and Ollie were too busy jumping on people to care so maybe next time because there will be a next time. Ollie made me promise.
