The Boys and Hockey

The temperature is definitely dropping so we bought them some dressing gowns to keep them warm. They look very cute.

Alex has started his sporting career with hockey!  He has been training hard and had his first match against Albany which they won 3-0! Awesome.  Alex is now really keen with his hockey which is fantastic.  Next - rugby!

Tom and Ollie have been really busy at kindy and are absolutely loving it!  Ollie has now started woodwork and has been hammering and drilling for the last few days!  He has done more woodwork than I have!

Milford Beach to Takapuna Beach Pt 3

We were not looking forward to walking back as they moaned getting there.  However, the sun was still shining and once we hit the beach again they were dancing with the waves again!  They were having so much fun that it took us nearly 2 hours to get back.  Will bring their togs next time though.

Milford Beach to Takapuna Beach Pt 2

The walk was a couple of hours but it was great fun with small bridges and beaches.  Lots of rocky paths and small walls to slip off into the sea!  As usual we bribed the boys into completing the walk with an ice-cream at Takapuna.

When we got there we noticed a sale at 'Farmers' and bought some Indiana Jones and Hulk figures for $1 each!  The boy sat for half an hour staring at the packaging in the Takapuna main street.

Milford Beach to Takapuna Beach

We thought the weather had turned!  Sunday was a stunner!  It was like we were back in the summer again, absolutely beautiful.  We had never done the Milford beach to Takapuna beach walk around the coast. This is where all the million dollar houses are.  The boys loved running in and out of the waves as we walked.  It wasn't long before Ollie landed flat on his face and got soaked.  The bribery of ice-cream kept him going though.

Stanmore Bay

The weather has turned!  It was raining nearly all day on Saturday and it contributed to a very exciting football match I had against Hibiscus Coast.  The match was played at Stanmore Bay which is about half an hour north of where we are.  Fortunately the rain did stop during the second half and I was able to take a couple of photos of the beach next to the pitches.

Hibiscus Coast are top of the league and we are near the bottom so they expected to win.  It was a tight game which meant it got a little feisty with us eventually losing 3-2.  The amazing thing was that I played against two, not one, but two people from Guernsey!  'Geordie' I recognized from playing against St Martins in Guernsey and Micky Smith, I think that was his name, was mentioned to me many times by people before I left.  One of the children who was with us said that he was their cricket coach and I then realised it must be him.  Unbelievable!

Glenfield Mall

Saturday was raining so we decided to use some of our 'Entertainment Book' vouchers.  We had a buy one get one free at 'Dunkin Donuts'.  The boys were particularly pleased because as we were walking into the mall we walked into Clifford the Dog!

The boys must have been a little hungry because they had 2 chocolate covered donuts each!

We were looking for some waterproof coats for the boys as we felt maybe the weather was beginning to turn.  We did well but shockingly Alex said, for the first time ever, that he really liked this leather jacket!  It was another sale with 40% off and we were so shocked he was interested in his clothing! Later I found out he was modeling himself on 'Mutt' from the latest Indiana Jones movie!

In the Squad

Alex recently had a trip to a Victorian village and he suitably dressed up.  Very convincing!

Unfortunately the boys were later found with a few bugs in their hair and desperate measures were needed.  Ollie refused to be photographed!

Alex has been selected for his first hockey match against Albany.  The match is away in a stadium!  I'm more excited than he is!  Al has been practicing hard in the garage.
