Sky Tower Pt 5

Once we recovered from the greatness of the Sky Tower the boys spotted a huge book shop and wanted to go.  For over an hour Tom and Ollie played with a Brio track.  Alex wanted us to buy him a Zac Power book but we said no so he read it instead, made sense.

Once we got into an open space the boys went crazy running around playing tag and jumping in and out of the rock fountain.  The mind boggles. Although it may have had something to do with the ice-cream we gave them!

Sky Tower Pt 4

Even with awe-inspiring views children seem to lose interest...quickly.  Alex and Tom decided to sit in the steel supports and chat about Star Wars and Ollie insisted on food.  We had to force ourselves and have a coffee.  At least Fran and I could enjoy the views while they read their magazines again. Thanks mum.

Sky Tower Pt 3

Awesome.  Amazing.  What else can I say?!  I was so surprised about how great it was.  When we arrived we went down into a beautiful building and got our lift with a glass bottom which the boys laid down and stuck their noses to!  When we first arrived we were on the Cafe level with lots of chairs etc and benches.  The views were stunning.

As you can see the boys enjoyed the glass floors and we found them in interesting positions!  There was another lift that took you another 10 floors up which was all glass and it was incredible.

The photo of the bridge shows how the North Shore is only linked by that which is why there can be horrendous traffic.  The other view shot has Rangitoto in the background which is what I can see from my school so you can get an impression where my school is from Auckland.  The school is right on the coast and sits about inline with the middle of Rangitoto.

Sky Tower Pt 2

When we arrived it was twelve so the boys have to be fed or there would be trouble. Fortunately as we stepped off the boat we walked straight into the downtown mall and the boys instantly noticed the golden arches.  They sat by a window so they could watch outside but they didn't know their Nana had kindly sent them some magazines.

Alex was extremely pleased with Bolt, he loved the movie and can't wait for a cuddly Bolt to be available!  As we made our way towards the tower we started to realise how big it really it is.  Once Tom understood what we were about to do, we were right next to it, he started repeating that he did not want to jump off it!  I waited till we got to the top before I put his mind to rest.
He is so like my mother, easy to wind up! Check out the fear in his eyes as he is pointing up next to Alex.

Sky Tower Pt 1

The weather was great so we decided it was Sky Tower day! We took a 15 min drive to Devonport which is a beautiful part of the North Shore.  As you can see its not far to the city and the views are fantastic.

Devonport has a regular ferry service to the nearby islands and Auckland city.  The boys were extremely excited about travelling on a boat and they desperately wanted to be at the back so they could see stuff.

The stretch of water is very busy and there was plenty to see such as massive cargo ships and amazingly huge yachts!

The arrival to Auckland city is wonderful and the boys were blown away by the size of the buildings.  Seemed strange leaving such a quiet port as Devonport and arrive to the centre of a major city!

Nathan, Claire and Fin visit

We had a great day with Nathan, Claire and Fin.  I work with Claire at Campbells Bay in Year Six, they were both PE students so we have a lot in common! They came round to see our new home and Fin particularly enjoyed the boys toys.

Later we walked up to our local park, Wainoi park, which is only a 5 minute walk way.  The boys love the water section and Fin didn't take long before he was getting involved.  And that is Nathan next to Fran on the bench, he loves his football which is very fortunate!

Movie Night is Party Night!

Movie night has evolved.  Not only do they get to see a great movie, it was 'Empire Strikes Back' so it doesn't come much better than that, they got their customary popcorn and a party food feast as well!  Once they started tucking in they shouted, "Movie night is party night!"  Can't wait till they are 16.

We have joined a library which is in fact about 10 spread about the North Shore.  Fran went to do 'bodycombat', I feel safer at night now, at her gym in Takapuna which has the largest library so we popped in there.  Alex has become a serious bookworm and is enjoying sharing books with his brothers.  If Al disappears we know where he is and what he is doing.
